The jury reached their sentencing decision two days after a juror was removed and an alternate was swapped in.

One Person Killed in Bizarre Accident


One person is dead following a bizarre accident in North Sacramento. It happened early Wednesday morning along the Capital City FreewayAccording to the California Highway Patrol the driver, who was traveling northbound, lost control of his car and slammed it into a fence.  Officers say that’s when he got out of the car.

Penn State on Wednesday named as acting head of its shattered athletic department a member of the university board that forced out the previous athletic director after he was charged with covering up a child sex abuse scandal.

Heavy D: Autopsy results inconclusive; Diddy to speak at funeral

  Coroners are unwilling to assign a cause of death based on the autopsy of rapper Heavy D, who died suddenly on Nov. 8 at the age of 44. A spokesman for the Los Angeles County coroner's office tells the L.A. Times it could take several weeks to confirm what led to the rapper/actor's death while they await toxicology reports.
   Heavy D reportedly started having breathing problems at his Beverly Hills condo after a shopping trip. He collapsed and, although he was still alive when police arrived at his condo, they were unable to revive him. 

Justin Bieber Paternity Case Quietly Dropped, Report

 The woman who accused Justin Bieber of fathering her child in a backstage tryst has dropped her paternity suit against the teen pop star. 20-year-old Mariah Yeater quietly dropped the lawsuit late last week, celebrity website TMZ reports.

Concrete beam kills worker at South Side demolition siteA construction worker at a South Side demolition site was killed this morning when a piece of a concrete beam fell on him, authorities said. Paramedics and police were called shortly before 9 a.m. to 11 E. 79th Street, officials said.
